A guide is a manual or an instruction concerned with instructing, explaining, or giving advice regarding how to accomplish a specific task. In this context, our game or forums often deploy a guide to assist users with better understanding or navigation of a game, software, or community. There are many formats and depths a guide may take, but the general idea is to simplify complex information into more manageable and understandable steps that help.

Guide section: https://forum.infinitymu.net/forums/guides.13/
As you can see, our guide section is divided into different subsections. If you want to create a guide, make sure to place it in the correct section or subsection to avoid confusing readers. If you're unsure where to post your guide, feel free to PM any staff member for assistance.

What's inside the Guide section?

How to Create a Guide

Always start a guide with a proper Title and prefix!

Title: Without a proper title, it is difficult to determine what kind of guide you are writing. A clear title is essential to ensure that readers can easily identify your guide.
Prefix: Each guide section and its subsections have different prefixes.

Prefixes as follows:

What Should Be Inside a Guide?

1. Introduction:
Start your guide with an introduction outlining what kind of guide you are creating, the purpose of the guide, and any relevant information, advice, or instructions to help someone complete a specific task.

2. Body:
The body is the most important part of your guide. It should include the following essential elements that every guide must contain.
  • Be brief and concise.
  • Write in plain English (unless you're creating a guide for a localized forum).
  • Ensure that all text, colors, screenshots, and videos are clear and must be visible.
  • Use bullet points for sections with a lot of information. (if needed)
  • Provide real/legitimate information from reliable sources. (website, Forum related links etc. free from viruses)

3. Screenshots/Pictures/Videos:
Including screenshots, pictures, or videos is very important, as many people are visual learners and find it easier to understand things through images or videos. Make sure your screenshots and videos are clear and visible. Read how to take screenshots.

4. Link to Download
: (if applicable/needed)
If your guide requires downloading software or game skins, make sure to provide a reliable website for downloading (no ads, and preferably something uploaded by you).

5. End Text:
Conclude your guide by offering support. Answer any questions via private message or reply directly on your thread.
