Hello there. :)

Due to infamous Win10 1809 update removing content of C:\Users folder I was forced to completely reinstall my operating system. Before that I was using Win10 1803 and InfinityMU client worked like a charm (even without adding it as an exception for DEP).

Unfortunately after fresh install I'm facing problems with the client - it starts loading and window just closes after ~10%. I've tried reinstalling the game, running as an admin, compatibility mode with every system on the list, adding to DEP exceptions, disabling antivirus and firewall, none of those helped.

I've checked Event Viewer and I've noticed that client crashes with 0xc0000409 error code (which means STATUS_STACK_BUFFER_OVERRUN error). Here are the details about exception:
Code:
Faulting application name: play.exe, version: 1.4.10.0, time stamp: 0x47259654
Faulting module name: unknown, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x00000000
Exception code: 0xc0000409
Fault offset: 0x6197be6f
Faulting process id: 0xb190
Faulting application start time: 0x01d4672d097108
Faulting application path: D:\Games\InfinityMU\play.exe
Faulting module path: unknown
Any suggestions how to make the game work again?

Hi,
Don't use compatibility mode because it will just make it worse. Microsoft confirmed few bugs and they don't want to confirm some other bugs that's the possible reason and that's why I'm not updating my win10 yet. If you have backup on earlier version - get it restored and see if you can back to the game! It's probably due your video card drivers are not installed after the fresh install? Or it's the newest update from M$. There's other possible reason which is that sometimes our anticheat crashes the client when some process trying to inject into main.exe or play.exe and our anticheat simply closes the client and appears just like crash log in event viewer. You can try to scan your PC with some antivirus such as NOD32, Kaspersky or some free alternatives like AVG.

Thanks

Windows 10 Education x64 with October update (1809). All drivers are the latest.

I generally don't use compatibility mode, just tried if this can help somehow. As I mentioned above, I have latest drivers installed (as well as DirectX, all Visual C++ and .NET redistributables). My PC is virus free (1. it's pretty fresh after formatting, 2. I've scanned it with Malwarebytes, Kaspersky, ADWCleaner and Windows Defender, 0 detections in any of those).

Don't get me wrong, but it's rather hard to trust strangers with TeamViewer. I'm concerned about my sentisive data etc, so I'd prefer talking about the problem on forum, gather as many suggestions/tips as possible and eventually fix that with trial and error method.

Btw I tried the game in virtual machine with clean Windows XP SP3 install and it worked, but even with 3D acceleration FPS were terrible, so I guess it's not viable workaround. :D

I can help you. Trust me, we speak in open field. I don't touch your personal information. I'm a computer system specialist. I can only help you.

This happened to me once and i also did everything that you did. I fixed it by installing my infinityMU in a different drive. Apparently my problem is my C drive permissions, i run the autoupdater, it updates but when i switched it to a different drive, it updated more files. In other words my C drive was preventing some files to be downloaded even if i run it as administrator. Then i tried running it and it worked. Could be worth trying, that happened to me when i switched to windows 10.

As RESiSTANT already said it's possible to be from the Windows update. However try running System Restore and return to a previous point (before the update). Restoring will be the best option for now, since we don't know how long it will take MS to fix the bugs in the update.

I will make an advice on my own:

* Before doing anything be sure to make BackUp copy of your data. (Make sure you have an external hard drive, such as Flash Drive or etc.)
- You can do that via File History.
1. Open the Start Menu and click on Settings.
2. In the menu that appears select Update & Security and then click on the Backup section to view the relevant options.

/In the right hand panel you’ll see a Section entitled Back Up Using File History, and beneath this is an option to Add A Drive./

3. Click on the Plus (+) symbol next to this and you’ll see a list of any external hard drives that are connected to your PC. If you have multiple drives connected then you can just click on the one that you want to use.

/When you return to the Backup section now you’ll see that the option has changed from Add A Drive to Automatically Back Up My Files, and that this option is switched on by default./

/You can turn this option off or on whenever you want to, but it’s best to leave it on so that future backups automatically take place at regular intervals./

/You can also specify how often your File History backups take place, and which files and folders are included./

5. Click the heading labeled More Options and you’ll be taken into a new window that contains several useful features.
6. By default, File History creates backups of your files once an hour, but if you want it to start straight away then you can just click the button marked Back Up Now.

/If you need any help with the BackUp feel free to contact me via skype or just PM me here in the site./

* After you made a successful BackUp file data you can now start with System Restore.

/Just before you start. System Restore will not delete any documents, pictures and etc file types. But it will delete any apps installed after that point in time./

1. Open the Start Menu and type Control Panel, then select the top option. From Control Panel search for Recovery, and then navigate to Recovery > Open System restore > Next.
2. Here you’ll be presented with a list of restore points. Choose the one you want, then select Next > Finish and Windows will restore that saved version of your system.

/If you have problems with the Easy Steps for System Restore please feel free to contact me, I'll be more than glad to help/

* - current procedure
/text/ - comments
1./2. - steps which you need to follow strictly

Kind regards, GodGrim!
