So my brother decided to make a gaming computer. He's mostly at work and barely uses it so I'll be primarily using it so he asked me to choose the pieces for him.

His budget is $1000 (its quite good if you make it yourself).

I don't know if anyone here is an expert in these things but heres what I decided so far.

CPU: amd fx8350 8core processor
MOBO (motherboard): ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z AM3+ AMD 990FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Gaming Motherboard with 3-Way SLI/CrossFireX Support and UEFI BIOS

GPU: MSI N650TI TF 2GD5/OC BE GeForce GTX 650 Ti BOOST 2GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 SLI

I'm planning on using 2 GPU since my MOBO has 3-way SLI.

Ram: 2x 8gb sticks

powersupply, case, heatsink normal ones =d.

any opinions would be greatly appreciated! Mu must be epic on this pc  among other games.

Dayum thats gonna be killing my budget then,

btw i7 outperforms fx 8350 yeah but fx got 8 cores and 4.0 ghz standard, 4.2 turbo and in the future more games will be released where the more cores you got the better the game will run.

Also I read an article saying that the new PS4 / xbox one will run 8 core also meaning those games when released for PC "may" be more compatible with an 8 core as opposed to the i5 or i7.

Just my opinion on why I choose fx 8350 over the i7.

Case: CM 431 or Whatever you like

1000-1050 USD
CPU: Intel 4670K + CM212 EVO or CM 412S Cooler

Go with your Build. But I have some Suggestions

If you will get an AMD CPU, Get a AMD GPU. Why? They might have better performance since they came from same company and they might be optimized for each other

Second, Don't use the usual CPU Cooler(Heat Sink Fan) The Cooler, The Better. You will need Liquid Cooling(or Air Cooling with Known Brands) for better performance and Possible Overclocking.

Power Supply will play also a great part in building a PC, Good power delivery= Stable Gaming experience.

Goodluck on your BUILD PC! :D

Cooler / heatsink: COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 EVO RR-212E-20PK-R2 Continuous Direct Contact 120mm Sleeve CPU Cooler Compatible with latest Intel 2011/1366/1155 and AMD FM1/FM2/AM3+

600 - 2000 RPM (PWM) ± 10%

Is it good enough for such a high end processor and GPU?

Everything is Fine. Cool enough for High-end GPU and CPU.

Is the PSU 700watts is TRUE-RATED? If yes. Then you're Really good to go. :D
