So, this has been running through my mind every now and then and since I plan sticking around InfinityMU for a long while, I decided to share. I consider myself an 'old-breed' MU player. You know, 10 resets max, 0.97 db, 50x XP, low drops, low zen, that kind of server. The one you have to devote yourself to, the kind that's so frustrating to level up on and get good items but is also at the same time rewarding, because once you' ve created a good player, you dominate. The past few years this kind of servers are getting more and more hard to find. Where is quality, hard gaming? Servers offer free FO sets upon arrival along with thousands of stat points to max your stats. So where's the fun? MU Online used to be a complete gaming experience, from hunting quest items and certain mobs for good gear, competing in Blood Castle and Devil Square for valuable prizes and jewels to trading and negotiating. Nowadays, most servers, including InfinityMU, include jewels and boxes on stores, have perfect rates for the various chaos mixes, good drops, high XP and what I blame most for 'ruining' the game, a webshop. Now the best player is not the one who knows more and devotes more time but the one who has the money to buy top notch equipment. Don't get me wrong, I know voting is important for a server and I find it rational to be rewarded with credits but overall I think webshops, perfect drops and fully equiped in game shops ruin the economy on a server, while high XP takes away some of the fun, along with the challenge. I'm really happy with the server though, I just sometimes miss the feeling of wanting to destroy my PC because the chaos machine mix for 2nd generation wings or broken horn, for example, failed.
Sincerely,
Alex.
