[Suggestion] Increase the forum mail capacity

Hi, i haven´t seen a suggestion like this before, and i think that would be nice change it.

Recently, i´ve passed from LMOD to Legend, and with that status change, my inbox capacity has been reduced a lot. I´ve noticed than the max amount of messages for a regular user is 50 (including inbox and sent items), and i think is a really small quantity since busy (or old) members like me, have tons of private msg that they want to keep, and i had to delete a lot of good messages to having send and receive capacity again.

I know that we must care of the server resources, but could be possible to increase the max amount to 100 at least??

totaly agree, i cant send or receive any message at all since my mailbox is full and i dont like to delete old messages.

Agree, wish it was implemented earlier than I wouldn't have had to delete all my old messaged :#.

With this suggestion surely every users would benefit, people like you Euge would have more room for their important messages and conversations, and lazy people (no offence, but I think the bigger part of the users) can push away the date of cleaning. :biggrin:

For everybody above me, to resolve your problem I rather than would like to suggest the PM export functions, simple select the desired messages (or a whole conversation), then select any download options under the Selected Messages menu. If those messages are so important, then why would keep them on the server, when you can store them in your computer too, where you can access any time? Moreover if you export conversations you can more easily check the messages, since everything would be in one file, and not scattered in your inbox. :happyy:
For the formats, let me quote some advices from the internet:

For choosing a proper format:
If you are using Outlook (or a similar program) and would like the messages to appear in Outlook, then I recommend using CSV
If you don't want to use any specific program, but just want a local copy to easily read the messages, then I recommend TXT
If you are using a program similar to Outlook that prefers the XML format, then use XML

In other words, the exported format you pick depends heavily on what you plan on doing with it. If you aren't using it for reading purposes or programming purposes, then most likely you'll want to use CSV. If you really want to get technical, you could even store all of the messages into your own database, but I won't get into that.

So back to the suggestion, I think it isn't necessary.

@Kane: The main idea is keep it in our forums profile, because if that's the case i just should take a SS of my messages and save that, do you think?

It is clear, but still I can't see any real reason why do that. May would you resend all your sent messages to some forum members, or maybe you would forward a message that you received 1 year ago? I don't think so. You would keep messages only to read them again, to keep the information that messages contain, therefore there is no reason to store more messages on the forum's server attached to your profile if you can easily export them.

I think it's a good suggestion but as I know when u want to expand forum u also have to pay for it.
If we will give that much space for every user, forum will be full in few days.
Ofc all of us want to keep important msgs.
We also have to think about it from technical way.
MODs and GMs have to have bigger inbox and there's nth to argue about it coz we know reason.

I´m only suggesting expand 50 messages more the inbox capacity. I´m a web programmer and I know that wouldn´t hurt so much the server´s capacity.

Anyway and as you said, Resi has the last word :smile:

It's not good for performance on the server. Only VIPs and higher groups does have maximum stored messages increased. Deleting old PMs is better choice. For Legend and Supporter groups I will be increasing the the limits now and for others I'd recommend to remain default.
