Hello, fellow InfinityMU players!

Today, I want to suggest making it mandatory for everyone with a forum account to cast at least one vote every 24 hours. I believe this could greatly benefit our server.

Over the past seven days, I've observed that more than 100 users have been active within a 24-hour period. Based on my estimates, around 30% of these users could potentially be dual vote casters (voting twice a day) from day 1 to day 30. With this kind of activity, we could significantly boost our voting numbers and reach the top 20 in rankings.

For example, if we have 100 active forum members and assume that 30%(also has forum account) of those are dual casters, we'd have:

proof:
ss forum
ss website of september

100 members + 30 dual casters(also has forum account) = 130 votes per day.
130 votes/day x 30 days = 3,900 votes per month.

This amount of voting could substantially raise our ranking.

Please feel free to correct me if my calculations are off, but I genuinely believe this would benefit our long-standing private server. I'm curious to know your thoughts: would you agree with this suggestion? Let’s discuss this as a community!

What is the benefit of this suggestion?

  • Higher Server Ranking: More consistent and frequent voting will help push the server up the rankings on MU Online private server lists. This will attract more players and enhance the server’s reputation.
  • Increased Visibility: A higher rank means better visibility, bringing in new players and expanding the community, which will help the server grow and thrive.
  • Stronger Community Engagement: Encouraging all players to vote regularly fosters a sense of collective responsibility and commitment to the server's success.
  • Improved Competition: Reaching the top 20 will make the server more competitive and recognized within the larger MU Online community, which could lead to more exciting events, rewards, and updates.
  • Sustained Server Lifespan: The continuous influx of new players, driven by a higher ranking, ensures the server remains active and successful for a long time.

Mechanics:

  • Automatic Logout: If a user has been logged into the forum for 24 hours without casting a vote, the system will automatically log them out. This ensures that every active user remains compliant with the voting requirement.
  • Mandatory Voting: Users must cast their vote before they are allowed to log back in. The system will check the voting status before granting access.
  • Voting Reminder: A reminder notification will be sent to users 1 hour before they are due to be logged out for not voting. This ensures they have ample time to complete the requirement without being disrupted.

This suggestion aims to show appreciation for our wonderful server. I do not intend to voice any grievances but rather to express gratitude for our amazing community.
Please comment down below to share your thoughts. Thank you!

I do appreciate your enthusiasm related to improving the game and popularity it gets, but here I will have to disagree with your suggestion.

Forcing users to vote in order to stay logged in or to log back in could create frustration. Forum participation should be voluntary and enjoyable, and adding mandatory tasks could make it feel like a chore, especially if users are primarily on the forum to discuss or seek information rather than engage in external activities like voting. Similarly, if this requirement were extended to the game, it would likely cause frustration by restricting the core gaming experience, making it feel less enjoyable.

Forum users who are forced to vote to access the forum may feel burdened and reduce their forum activity. Some might avoid logging in altogether if they see the voting requirement as a barrier to accessing the community. Just like with the server rankings, forcing users to vote may inflate the numbers but not reflect genuine engagement or support. It could also push away users who value free and open participation in forum activities.

Voting should not be treated as a form of punishment or obligation. Instead, the focus should be on encouraging voluntary engagement through positive incentives, such as offering attractive rewards, which would make voting a rewarding and appealing activity rather than a forced one. In my opinion, this is already the case though.

Overall, in my opinion mandating a vote for continued forum access takes away autonomy from the users, which could lead to dissatisfaction or even resentment toward the community.

Yes, this is a fact. I didn’t see the negative side; instead, I just focused on the positive aspects.

Forcing like this is not always good, I think. But maybe we could motivate players to fill the captcha code and actually register the vote to be valid by rewards.

Previous staff members did things like that, for example:

More examples: https://forum.infinitymu.net/search/230404/?q=vote+goal&t=post [child_nodes]=1&c[nodes][0]=2&o=date

Prizes could be updated or changed.

"Oh, this idea is fantastic! If we implement the COTA, do you think we might see some great discounts in the coming months? Haha!"
I'm excited XD

All in all.. indeed forced vote wont be cool..
But add a vote key button like the "Show Stream" above the SB or somewhere very visible.. im sure il do atleast 1 free vote/day cuz is taking maybe 3 seconds to vote in xtreme or w/e page u guys consider is the main voting page.
Going main page..going to log in.. going to search in that pannel to go vote.. going to ... Takes too much going xd.
In old times in other sv i played..not only the staffs had the icon link of xtreme attached to theyr forum account..but even players.
And ofc.. if is to be add, make it visible for the phone users also.
Cheeres and thanks for involvement.

Bro @ViolaMania Do you meant to see or participate in the Shoutbox on the forum, is there an icon or link for XtremeTop100 attached that players need to click?

To conclude:
While it might seem like mandatory voting is being enforced, consider the positive side. You're not losing anything by entering the voting system, as it only takes about a minute within a 24-hour span. Taking that one minute to vote ensures the growth and visibility of the server, benefiting everyone.
🍻🍻🍻

In 1 minute there's 60 seconds
In 1 hour there's 60 minutes
In a day there's 24 hours
So that 1 minute should've not be a loss
